Professional Italo-American Accordion

This is one of the most interesting accordions I have found recently. It is never late to learn more about the accordion manufacturing in the 1950s and 1960s, the collaboration taking place between various accordion makers, the history of some trade names etc. Most of this valuable information is not written anywhere and it takes knowledge and experience to figure out the manufacturing history of a particular instrument based on some specific design details. The Italo-American company is still in business. Many of their original 1950-60s models are in high demand, especially among the polka players because of the excellent ergonomic body, light weight, and most importantly, powerful and far projected sound. This instrument certainly has all the qualities listed above and at the same time has some distinct features that are clearly not typical for an Italo-American. The accordion interior, reed blocks materials and design, the treble and bass switch mechanisms, the keyboard feel - these are all very specific and can be found only on Scandalli Super VI and Titano Royal and Cosmopolitan model accordions. The pictures will tell the story better. Briefly, this is a rare masterpiece that has been well played and very much respected and taken care of. We are fortunate to be able to present such a fine accordion. It just got a proper service. The work included:

- taken apart the bass machine, cleaned annd lubricated, adjusted mutual alignment, optimized valve tension
- disassembled the keyboard, cleaned the kkey bed, lubricated springs and regulated tension, optimized compression, replaced valve pads leather as needed
- cleaned the reeds, spot tuning, replacedd few leathers
- new shoulder straps
- installed new bellows protector

This accordion will make anyone proud and happy to own and play it. The surface is nice and clean. The chrome plated grill is shiny and reflects light and nearby objects. The constant appearance change makes the instrument alive. When you add the deep resonant bass and the clear strong treble sound you have a beautiful instrument.

The accordion was serviced in January 2010 and is ready for many years of trouble free performance. The chrome plating on the grill is clean and shiny. Every single reed has a full and instantaneous response. The reed leathers and the wax throughout are in excellent condition. The instrument is very powerful and has a sound to remember!

The above photograph was taken without flash and shows the actual key tops color and the beautiful chromed grill.

These are some of the most resonant reed blocks I've seen. Excellent reeds.

The Serial Number 6 is visible on the reed blocks, the treble and bass side body, and bellows frames.
