PAN Italia Stroller Concert Accordion

This is a very rare accordion. It was built as a professional concert instrument in a nice compact size. It features 3/4 sets of hand-finished reeds, full range of 41 keys / 120 bass buttons, and Stradella / Quint Free-Bass converter. The keyboard length is 17" and the weight is only 20 lb.  This one-owner instrument is nice and clean and will come to its new home concert-tuned to the original factory specifications.

The "musette" switch is a modified M'H' reed combination with the slide for the piccolo reeds open about 1/3 and the clarinet
reeds open 2/3. As a result of the changed air flow the pitch of the corresponding reeds drifts flat and creates the tremolo effect.
Similarly, the "polka" switch activates a modified L"M"H reed combination with the bassoon and clarinet slides open 1/2 of the
range and the piccolo fully open.

A similar effect was presented
by Borsini on a prototype model at Misikmesse 2011 in Frankfurt, Germany. The idea was basically
the same. Rocker action switches were used and each switch had several positions, opening the corresponding reed slides by a
different amount (for example 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full) and therefore creating variations in the frequency of the corresponding reed set.

A custom built accordion with similar features and quality would cost a small fortune today (more than $4000). The free bass option allows for playing a melody line on the bass section and practically performing music as written for the piano or organ. The instrument would be suitable for young students or people with small hands. If you happen to have a talented child who likes to explore the accordion beyond the folk music and is interested in expanding their musicality, this accordion would be the perfect gift to help them advance in their music education.

There are two small marks and minor finish blemish from a name plate.

Please, note the accordion is concert tuned.
