The Annual Accordion Festival organized by the American Accordion Musicological Society and the Mid Atlantic Music Teachers Guild will take place in Whippany, NJ on March 30 - April 1. You can find details about the event on the MAMTG web site. There will be an exciting variety of accordion music, concerts, and workshops.

The Accordion Gallery will be represented by Guenadiy Lazarov. We would like to invite you to his workshop "Tender Loving Care for the  Love of your Life" on Sunday, April 1 at 10 am.
The discussion will cover accordion maintenance, troubleshooting, some repair techniques, as well as answers to any accordion related questions.

If you are going to be in the area for the AAMS/MAMTG festival this might be an excellent opportunity to visit the Accordion Gallery. We are located in Landing, NJ only 20 miles West of Whippany. Give us a call and we will accommodate your schedule. See you soon.

We are very pleased to announce that our friend and featured artist Alex Meixner has reaffirmed his endorsement of the Siwa & Figli accordions by acquiring a Super Quattro Compact Hey-di MIDI accordion with Cleveland tuning. On October 10, 2011 the Siwa & Figli Super Quattro Artist accordion was featured at the 67th annual Columbus Day Parade in New York City. The festivities are organized by the Columbus Citizens Foundation and celebrate the Italian-American cultural heritage. The accordion was brought to the United States by Italian immigrants. The best accordions are made in Italy and Castelfidardo is the accordion capital of the world. It is natural to feature an accordion at this year's parade.

At the finale of the parade Cory Pesaturo joined the hosts Maria Bartiromo and Joe Piscopo, the Grand Marshal Joe Plumeri, and 2011 American Idol Singer Pia Toscano on the red carpet performing Frank Sinatra's classic hit New York, New York.

It was great to meet some good friends at

Cape Accordion 2011.

Hurricane Irene was threatening to ruin our plans to get together. However, passionate and devoted accordionists overcame flooded roads, fallen trees, power outages, and disrupted flight schedule to join from Canada, Germany, and across the US.

In the words of the host and co-organizer James Gerke, the event was planned as "a small get-together of advanced accordionists at Harwich, Cape Cod... five days of informal and meaningful interaction: fun, playing, jamming, sharing, learning". It was all of that and more.

I feel honored and happy to be part of Cape Accordion 2011 and tried to capture the spirit of the event in the following photographs:

The Accordion Gallery joined Siwa & Figli for a very strong and convincing debut on the world stage at Musikmesse 2010. Imagine 4 days packed full with special presentations and concerts. Talking about the accordion manufacturers, it will not be overstated to say Castelfidardo goes to Frankfurt during the trade show.

We had hundreds of people visit our booth. Our guests enjoyed many featured performances as well as the opportunity for a personal experience playing some of our latest acoustic and electronic instruments.

Super Quattro Compact with "Hey-di" MIDI Siwa & Figli has released a new Hey-di MIDI system, developed in collaboration with Logic Systems. The new controller has extremely slim design and combines elegant appearance with powerful features.


Hey-di MIDI Controller

The internal sound card offers hundreds of accordion and orchestral  sounds and effects allowing the flexibility to perform without external MIDI module. Right from the grill you can adjust volume, bellows dynamics, change octave for particular section or transpose the entire instrument, select different instrument sounds in real time etc. The 2 independent treble sections allow for simultaneous selection of accordion and orchestral sounds. The internal memory consists of a ROM part with pre-programmed orchestral sounds (5 for bass section, 5 for chords section, and 2x11 for the 2 treble sections) and Flash component where you can store your favorite presets (6 for bass, 6 for chords, and 2x12 for the 2 treble sections). In addition, there are 12 user banks (registrations) to store your favorite system parameters. Either use the factory programs or create your own and recall them in real time.

One can access the internal sound card while controlling an optional external MIDI arranger. The system can be used with headphones for private practice.

Siwa & Figli and the Accordion Gallery are introducing a special Accordion Gallery Line of instruments. Each accordion will be absolutely unique and will be properly designated. The accordion body including the grill and the side bass cover is carved from rare selection of  naturally aged (40+ years) woods. The body is varnished in the tradition of violin making and not covered in Polyurethane. The results are amazing - enhanced natural wood grain and improved sound projection. We are proud to present here the first masterpiece.

We all know how important it is to inspire young people to learn and play the accordion. Unfortunately, there are only a few accordion schools left in our country. I have always admired teachers and educators who devote time to share their talent and art with others. My older son took lessons with Stanley Darrow and Joanna Arnold at the Acme Accordion School in Westmont, NJ and I've had the opportunity to see them both work with many kids and adults with a common desire to play the accordion.
