This is a WELTMEISTER Cantus IV professional German accordion. The name on the instrument is SILVETTA. Along with the S4 and the Supita, this is one of the best accordions made in Eastern Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. These German accordions are sought after by many professional musicians in Eastern Europe because of their tonal depth and power. Recently, they have received recognition worldwide.

The accordion is clean and looks very nice. Is has been well maintained over the years. The compression is excellent. The keyboard and bass machine mechanics is very smooth without clicking or metallic noise. Best of all, it projects a beautiful rich tone. 

The key travel was optimized. Each individual spring was calibrated for uniform keyboard action.

The key pads are made of natural white felt and leather and provide excellent compression and silent action.

Looking inside the Cantus IV you can see the solid wood reed blocks.

The blocks are mounted with bolts on each side.
With this design there will never be a reed block shift.

The reed valves consist of leather and Mylar. The German companies Weltmeister and Hohner used

these valves for many decades. Recently many Italian manufacturers implemented them.
