Dear
Accordion Friends,
Back
in 2004 I promised to present some of the very best accordions I have
ever played. There are many nice instruments that can keep us
satisfied and inspired. However, once you come across an exceptional
quality accordion you know it from the first chord you play! We all
deserve to find our ultimate accordion, the accordion we will never
part with. Fortunately, we have different preferences and this makes
the accordion world as exciting and colorful it is. I know how great
it feels to be able to hear that dream sound each time you play. I am
sure someone will soon feel the same way about the accordion I am
presenting to you now.
This is a very special TITANO Royal Cassotto accordion, the crown jewel
of Titano's "SUPER MODELS" line. If you have played a Royal model with
Catraro reeds you will always be attracted to that sound and response. I
call it "The Richard Galliano Sound". The accordion becomes part of you
and you can express the slightest musical nuance. The sound is warm, yet
powerful. From the deep resonant bassoon to the heart melting clarinet
and crisp piccolo all the reeds bring joy and happiness to the performer
and the listeners. The bass is in perfect balance to the treble. If
you'd like to know more about the quality of Titano accordions, please
check this web site
http://www.titano.com/features.htm. I have played many Titano
accordions and while they are all very nice instruments this one is
truly EXCEPTIONAL - fabulous reeds response, dynamic range and
overtones, excellent mechanics, amazing efficiency.
The hardware is clean with no
rust. The overall cosmetic condition is very
good. The compression is excellent. The reeds are fabulous. The
accordion is ergonomically designed and well balanced and will be
perfect for a dynamic and expressive performance. Offered with
one year warranty.

This
Titano accordion is a dream instrument for anyone who knows the rich sound
of these late 1950's / early 1960's models. Richard Galliano cherishes the
Catraro reeds in his accordion and unlocks their full dynamic range.
Played in a cathedral this accordion sounds like an organ.
The
Quint Free-bass system is very intuitive (see the diagram below). The
first two rows (counter-bass and bass) remain the same. The next two rows
(major and minor chords in Stradella system) now play single notes like
the first two rows but one octave above. The fifth and sixth rows (seventh
and diminished chords in Stradella) play single notes in the same layout
as the first two rows but two octave higher. This way, the performer can
use the knowledge about bass and counter-bass buttons layout and play
melody spanning 3 octaves. The free-bass allows the performer to play
music written for piano and organ and enhances the orchestral capabilities
of the instrument.

Below are several videos to demonstrate the capabilities of this type of
free-bass accordion in the right hands. Enjoy.

The keyboard is a
level and responsive and is a delight to play.
The photographs below
will show the interior of this beautiful accordion...
I serviced the
keyboard in January 2024 - optimized the alignment and pressure on each
individual valve and
leveled the keys for a delightful fast and smooth action.

The grill is very
light and allows for excellent sound projection.
The body was carved
from aged mahogany that has matured even further over
the years and resonates with the reeds. You can feel the vibrations on
your chest as you play the accordion.
All reeds and leathers
are clean. The design of the reed tongues and the riveting technique can
explain the efficiency and instant response as well as the pitch
stability. I can recognize these reeds without any stamp on the reed
plates.
Even the bellows
frames are made of mahogany and are nicely varnished.
Please,
note the shared base of the middle and high harmony reed blocks. This
combined V-shaped reed
blocks produces enhanced resonances. This feature was invented at the
Scandalli factory when the Super VI model
was designed and can be found only on the Super VI and some high-end
Titano models.
