Cape Accordion 2011
September 2, 2011It was great to meet some good friends at Cape Accordion 2011.
Hurricane Irene was threatening to ruin our plans to get together. However, passionate and devoted accordionists overcame flooded roads, fallen trees, power outages, and disrupted flight schedule to join from Canada, Germany, and across the US.
In the words of the host and co-organizer James Gerke, the event was planned as "a small get-together of advanced accordionists at Harwich, Cape Cod... five days of informal and meaningful interaction: fun, playing, jamming, sharing, learning". It was all of that and more.
I feel honored and happy to be part of Cape Accordion 2011 and tried to capture the spirit of the event in the following photographs.
